Hello again,
ever wonder what this scary monster with the foam on his mouth is, that is displaying my avatar here?
Okay, here is the conclusion: Hammy.
Hammy is surely the most coolest squirrel ever, well, I think so that is.
Those who don’t know Hammy, should take a look at the film “Over the Hedge (german: Ab durch die Hecke), where Hammy takes a important role (“It’s mine it’s mine, I saw it first, nobody touch it…”)

It’s been a while…

It’s been a while…again… I know. But things here were really busy. We spend the whole late April and the fully may this year, to move into our new home and get it fixed before (more or less that is).

Now we’re in since late may and it’s hilarious, fantastic, marvelous, whatever… but now I know why they say: “The own four walls are the best” or “my home is my castle”. I never imagined that I could have had fun, doing garden work and such stuff, before.
fact is, there ist still a lot to do in the condominium and in the garden, but one thinks other about such things when you know it is for your self what you are doing and nt for one other who owns the four walls you are living in. I only can tell everyone: go and try to get your own home… there is nothing better, except own children perhaps (I guess, because I yet have none *g* )

Well, after the move their was the G8-convention in Heiligendamm here in germany, which meant that I had to go on duty for ten days away from home. But we had luck. We not only had almost nothing to do with the demonstrants, no we also had a real good (four stars) holiday reservoire/hotel, in which we stayed during our time in Heiligendamm. It was really good, swimming area, sauna, relaxing and such stuff, and the food was great too, next to the weather.

back at home, there were still things to do in the new home (in fact there are still things to do now), but there is so spare time at the moment. And yet, when I could do something in there, I got an “herpes zoster” (for the germans here it is “Gürtelrose”), which is an extreme painful issue. The nerve-string which runs from my spine around the waist to the belly/navel was infected from the herpes zoster virus. Good luck I went fast to the doc, so the zoster never had a chance to get really big (which could be really dangerous), but it still hurts and the doc says, that it can hurt for several weeks, since the nerves are damaged through the virus. How do one get a “herpes zoster”? It’s easy and it has nothing to do with cleaniness or contagion. the answer is easy: if one had have chickenpox (or varicella) in childhood, one has the virusses still residing and sleeping at his spine. Through some outer circumstance, like stress, extreme hot/cold changeings or sth else, these virusses can be reactivated and then you get a “herpes zoster” instead of chickenpox… really ugly I can tell, escpecially when its warm/hot outside…
But as I said I had luck because I went early to the doc and so the zoster never had a chance to get really big. Now I am retiring from the illness and it#s getting better each day, though the pain is still there, even if it is not so bad as it was at the beginning.

Okay, that’s enough news for now…

It’s been a while…
okay I must admit I forgot this blog somehow since I was really busy the last weeks. Much working, much doing other stuff. The date for getting the keys for redecorating and at last moving into our condo is getting nearer and nearer. Early to mid may will be the time. Good that is: just in time for catching the sun in our new garden.

Well, nothing much really big happened here the last weeks.
I got a new and really fast pc machine (now I am testing all the new games which didn’t run on the old one *g*). We finally started packing up things for the moving and in the spare time which is left then, I am lazying around and care for our website www.dnd-gate.de. I am really glad that I have some guys there, who take up some work on the website for me. The Gate would not run in such a good way, if those guys weren’t there.

Bonsais:
Last friday the time was finally there, when I had to replant my beloved bonsais into new potteries. Before i orderer a big package from an internet bonsai store. Akadama ( a special lava granulate from japan), pottering soil, tools, new bonsai pos and so on and so on. Not cheap I can tell you.
Well, a few hours of work and the little trees hat new homes and after a day or so one could see that they were quite happy with this.

Well, well. Back again. Things are busy here. I am back to work and there is a wagon full of stuff to do. Then there is the condo-moving in may, which has to be planned, especially the renovation of the condo before we are moving in. Lucky that most rooms only need some new colours – since we don’t like it all in white. The only room which will get more than that is the bedroom. A new floor has to be put in, as well as the walls have to be made up. But I think that will be done in one or two days. So you see: nothing really bad to do for our new paradise.

The best thing is, we will get some very cool and very old furniture / cabinets from my mom, who wants to modern up her own apartment. We really love those old cabinets and they will fit very well in our new living room.

Well, you all can see, life goes on after the loss we had in mid January. This catastrophe only states my own long time opinion, which is: live everyday as if it is your last… you never know when it is over. But surely, I hope (and plan) to be around for many years though.

mourning…

Six days have past, since my stepfather, who was like a second father to me, died very suddenly on lung cancer. Only two days before his death we got the diagnosis – that was on sunday the 14th – and in the blink of an eye he was gone forever on wednesday morning. Nobody – not even the doctor – had expected that it would happen so fast and surely it was a shock for my family and me. The last days we mourned together and my two sisters, my wife and me cared for our mom, though she is very strong – as she always has been.

On thursdays morning the funeral will take place in a small family and friend circle.
I believe that this day will be a very very heavy one for us all, but I also believe that it will be necessary to handle the mourning.

I will post a obituary soon here in my blog and I promise, that I actualize this blog more often in the near future, when these stressful days have gone and my family and me have calmed down a bit.

Well this blog isn’t dead, but the first three weeks of the new year were a littlebit stressy for me, and the next days or weeks also will be. I will post some new thoughts and impressions soon, I think, just when the time is right and available.

Holla, this year is dead
I can tell you, it has been a hard but fruity year, especially the last months, when we ran from bank to bank to get the money for the condominium. But now all looks very fine and the next year can come and hopefully it will bring lots of fun, luck and money *g*
I think it will be a busy year or at least the first month will be busy. We have to plan the move into the new apartment which will probably happen in april, perhaps in may. I think it will be a lot of work for us to plan the condominium, you know colors, floors, decorations and such stuff. Also we surely have to help my sister – from whom we bought the condominium – with getting her new house ready in time, since we can move only, when she has moved into her new house.
Also in may good friends of us will have a big marriage, we will attend to and after that some other good friends of us, will give birth to their first heir. Then the first half of the year will have been gone and I bet there will be much other things to do then – especially caring for our new garden and my bonsais *g*.
I don’t know what the rest of the year will bring for us, but I am sure it will be mostly good.
So, I wish all of you who read my blog, a similar Happy and Healthy 2007, as we expect to have.

My first Bonsais!

well well, Christmas 2006 is gone… gosh… what a pity… not
Oh, don’t get me wrong. I like xmas… especially all the eating and the full belly and the presents *eg*

hmm speaking about presents… my wife had a good idea for me this year. She gave me my first bonsai tree. I always loved those little trees since I love the way they are arranged. They are little artworks and they need a lot of love and care, that’s sure, but on the other hand it doesn’t seem too difficult to care for them.

Well, I will try my best on the first two I now have. Two? Yes, two. After the xmas present of my wife, we went out today to take a visit at a local bonsai shop to get some informations about the handling and the care such a little tree needs. No wonder we ended up, buying another bonsai then. I took a foto from both – see them somewhere here in this post

Bonsai is art, that’s for sure, and I am looking forward to grow up some different bonsais by myself in the future. I also like to set up our new garden (I told you that we bought a condominium with a huge garden) in a japanese (asian) style with “Feng Shui” influences and in that I also like to have some beautiful looking putdoor bonsais or little bonsai woods. Okay okay, I am aware that this will need time and much care, but I believe it would be a beautiful, peaceful and also cool garden when it is set up at the end.

Here are my first two bonsais. The first one is the one my wife gave me for xmas, the other one is the small one I bought today in the bonsai shop. Number One is a kind of figtree, while number two is a so called Legustrum.
